Servants Knowing

The servant

Who knows

The master’s will

And does not get ready or does not do

What the master wants

will be beaten with many blows.

But the one who does not know

And does things deserving punishment

Will be beaten with few blows.

From everyone who has been given much,

Much will be demanded; and from the one

Who has been entrusted with much,

much more will be asked.

Luke 12

Servants Waiting

Be dressed ready for service

And keep your lamps burning,

Like servants

Waiting for their Master

To return from a wedding banquet,

So that when He comes and knocks

They can immediately open the door

For Him.

It will be good for those servants

Whose Master

Finds them watching when He comes.

Truly I tell you,

He will dress himself to serve,

will have them recline at the table and will come and wait

On them.  It will be good for those servants

Whose Master

Finds them ready, even if He comes in the middle

Of the night or toward daybreak. But understand this:

If the owner of the house had known at what hour the thief

Was coming, he would not have let his house be broken into.

You also must be ready,

Because the Son of Man

Will come at an hour

When you do not

Expect Him.

Luke 12

Location Expiration

Twain said, “Buy land, they’re not making it anymore,”

While Samuel emphasized, “Location, location, location.”

Abraham says, “My heavenly lot, God’s got, I’m looking for.”

As Nobody said, “Those three locations border on expiration.”

You, Not Forgotten, Don’t Be Afraid

“I tell

You, my friends, do not be afraid

Of those who kill

The body,

And after that can do no more.

But I will

Show you Whom

You should fear:

Fear Him Who,

After your body

Has been killed,

Has authority to throw

You into hell.

Yes, I tell

You, fear Him.

Are not five sparrows

Sold for two pennies?

Yet not one of them

Is forgotten by God.

Indeed, the very hairs of your

Head are all numbered. Don’t

Be afraid; you are worth more

Than many

Sparrows.

Luke 12:4-7

Please excuse my liberty

With lines this time.

Look with Me on Past with Present

“I face, by no choice of my own, every color, every shape,

everything of both your past and your present,

as found in this, my little world,

but never your future.

We disagree on what we see.

You often make a mountain out of a mole hill.

Also, the present, which we both face, may shock you,

but it will never shock me.

I do not make judgements. I do not give advice.

I do not even give an opinion. I remain neutral.

Do as you like.

My cousins are often caught up in the world of beauty and fashion,

along with the everyday mundane, but we are rarely concerned

with such things as beauty and fashion. We are more concerned

with the world of suspense.

You rely on me often, as often as you must. And must you must,

or you will eventually become a wreck.

But be of good cheer, just as every cloud has a silver lining,

so do I. If not for my silver lining,

you would see right through me,

which would be more of a problem for you than for me.”

In the Fast Lane with Humpty Dumpty

Humpty Dumpty sat on the wall.

Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.

.

As a young man singing in his church,

Friends kept saying, “You’re going far.”

Hollywood spots him on a talent search,

Humpty soon to be the world rock star.

..

Loving God with a part of his heart,

One eye on God, the other on gold,

World now falls in love with his art,

Star Humpty, just a twenty-year-old.

Humpty Dumpty sat on his wall,

Straddling between God and gold.

Humpty Dumpty had a great fall,

His heart leaning gold, falling cold.

….

Elvis is the rock and roll king,

Rolling in gold, drink and drugs.

He loves how Humpty can sing.

He offers swarms of party bugs.

…..

Elvis drives a 300-horsepower mustang.

He’s bought all the best doctors in town.

Elvis and Humpty, kings of the rock gang.

But now Humpty’s crown is falling down.

……

Humpty is found passed out on the floor,

Now numb to Jesus knocking at his door.

Elvis drives all 300 horses to the hospital,

As Humpty’s heart is draining little by little.

…….

All the king’s horses and all the king’s men

Just couldn’t put Humpty together again.

……..

Spending his life’s treasure on fleeting worldly pleasure,

Humpty’s foolish life ends, singing songs of foolish friends.

Gold of the rock and roll king couldn’t help cold Humpty sing.

Straddling your heart’s wall? Edging toward poor Humpty’s fall?

………

Humpty Dumpty sat on the wall.

Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.

All the king’s horses and all the king’s men

Couldn’t put Humpty together again.

Psalm 107

However far the rivers flow,

whichever way the sands blow,

whether gardens wilt or grow,

whether one be God’s friend or foe,

with the one taken high, the other low,

each after reading His Word should know,

it is God who ultimately declares yes or no

over each circumstance of blessing or woe.

So, may we each be wise with open eyes,

receiving God’s love, His Son of above,

before one dies, as one’s soul flies,

either down to grieving sighs

or up to open, joyful skies.

Oh, why do you still try to run and hide?

It’s only now that His arms are open wide.
